January: word games

In between fluency instruction, or sometimes when a student is absent, I'll pull out a game called chunks. Though they get frustrated with it, my students enjoy discovering real words from nonsense words.

December Break

We've all been on break for about a week now and there's a few days left. Miss O here has been up to a lot of stuff, some school related. I'm going to share a few fun things I got over break that I'm going to be bringing in that I hope will be yes, fun but also useful as educational tools in the classroom.
The Pixy Cube game and the pattern block set came from a friend and are not technically Christmas presents, the box just got misplaced until Christmas. The car is something I've been looking for quite a while now and finally found by accident.
They're from a company called Automoblox and they won a series of Oppenheim Toy portfolio awards for design, safety and playability. The pieces are interchangeable with other cars from the product lines.
